About Wokie
For more than 30 years, Wokie Massaquoi-Wicks has committed her time, energy, and administrative expertise to a variety of community-focused social change organizations devoted to providing vital services for those in need.
In her previous career, Wokie held leadership positions in a variety of social change, housing, and community development/service institutions. In these capacities, she effectively built and led teams of professional staff, managed budgets, developed and implemented programs, oversaw board development, counseled, and directed and monitored organizational financial health. Her focus was to empower individuals and families who are socially, economically, and physically disadvantaged. While Wokie remains devoted to community service, she is excited about her career transition into real estate, where she can help people fulfill their dream of home ownership.
Wokie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Urban Studies and her Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is a certified Housing Development Finance Professional, certified Housing Counselor, and certified Budget and Credit Counselor.
In her spare time, she loves to travel to various countries and experience different traditions and foods of other cultures. She is married to Stephen Wicks, Curator at the Knoxville Museum of Art, and their son is a doctoral candidate in health neuroscience at the University of Tennessee. She and her husband enjoy sports, love the arts, and adore family.
